I've heard say that the third time is charmed. Well, Double Standards is my third recording, and if only for the experience of working with this talented group of musicians, technicians, designers and friends, this has been a charmed time in my life! The songs on Double Standards were picked from the best of the classic songwriters of the Great American Songbook and from the best of the contemporary songbook as well, including a brand new song that receives it's debut here on this album.

I want to thank my "Executive Producers," Michael Kuber and Mildred Goldston. Their love and support made sure that the Standards were High as well as Double! Big thanks to Bill Duffy, my terrific pianist and Musical Director for Double Standards. Thanks Bill, for helping me make the music swell to heights I've always hoped to reach. To round out my "dream team," I only asked for the best - and got it! Dave Landoni, George Farrell and Kenny Wentzel. With talent like this, the cream finally rises to the top! To all my new friends, John Baboian, Ricardo Monzon, Athene Wilson and Jeff Ramsey, you have my utmost respect and gratitude for your fine work on Double Standards. It was a joy to work with David Sparr again since "Here's to Life." His choices are always the right ones. Thanks to designer Cara Marquis for creating the Double Standards look!

Double thanks to RadioJazz in Copenhagen, WartaJazz in Jakarta, Ron Della Chiesa at Boston's WGBH and WPLM, Scott Penn at WOMR in Provincetown, everyone at the North Shore's own terrific WBOQ and all of the other radio stations who play my music. Thanks to Fenton Hollander of Water Music and the staff at Regattabar in Cambridge and to Jennifer Evans at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Thanks to the critics of New York's Back Stage, especially John Hoglund for his advice and support. Thanks to Bobby Short, Chita Rivera and Julie Wilson who were so kind to me when I received the 2000 Bistro Award in New York. Thanks to my loving and supportive friends Darrell Leighton, Doug Swiszcz, Maeve Spain, Karen Kelley, "Lee" FitzGerald and her family, in loving memory of Bernie Fitz; to Barry Dennen, to San Francisco's Bob Grimes for "Moon About Town" and to Ellen Ophir who gave me an open door to her wonderful music.

    Time for moving on...

    Love,
    Dane
